Forging Stronger Agricultural Partnerships: Hon. Eric Opoku Meets with German Development Cooperation Representatives

On February 18, 2025, representatives of the German Development Cooperation; Daniel Böhme WZ Officer, German Embassy, Beate Weiskopf project leader for GIZ/Market-Oriented Value Chains for Jobs and Growth in the ECOWAS Region (MOVE-ComCashew) and Bashiru Fuseini Deputy Head of Programme for the GIZ/Sustainable Employment through AgriBusiness (AgriBiz) in Ghana, met with the newly appointed Ghanaian Minister of Food and Agriculture, Honorable Eric Opoku, in response to his invitation.

The productive meeting took place at the MoFA Head Office in Accra and focused on discussing key issues affecting the agricultural sector in Ghana and exploring potential partnerships to advance agriculture.

Honorable Opoku expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to engage formally with the German cooperation, highlighting his long-standing relationship with GIZ and their collaborative efforts. Daniel Böhme on behalf of the team, congratulated the Minister on his new role and emphasized the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development's commitment to strengthening their partnership with Ghana and conveyed the interest in the northern part of Ghana given the peculiar situation of the people in the north in terms of livelihood.

Also, the interventions of the GIZ MOVE/REACH and AgriBiz projects were well detailed and presented to the Minister.

At the end of the meeting, Honorable Opoku expressed his willingness for continuous engagements that will deepen collaboration with the German Development Cooperation.
