GIZ/MOVE-ComCashew and GIZ/ABF Launch University Tour to Promote Digital Learning in Agricultural Value Chains
As part of efforts to expand access to high-quality agricultural training, the GIZ Market Oriented Value Chains for Jobs and Growth in the ECOWAS Region (MOVE-ComCashew) and Agribusiness Facility for Africa (ABF) projects organized a university tour from November 17 to 21, 2025, across four major higher education institutions in Côte d'Ivoire. The initiative aimed to promote the online learning modules developed for the cashew, cocoa, maize, and livestock (cattle, sheep, goats) value chains.
Strengthening Digital Learning Opportunities
The overall objective of the tour was to introduce students and teaching staff to the digital learning platforms e-Move and the Agribusiness e-Academy, strengthen collaboration with universities, and promote online courses in the cashew, cocoa, corn, and livestock value chains to interested students and teachers. Through these online modules, learners gain practical, up-to-date knowledge on key agricultural sectors, supporting youth employability and skills development.
Four Universities, Hundreds of Learners Reached
Over the five-day mission, the MOVE-ComCashew and ABF teams visited:
- INPHB Higher School of Agronomy (ESA) in Yamoussoukro
- Jean Lorougnon Guédé University (UJLoG) in Daloa
- Polytechnic University of San Pedro (UPSP)
- ERA-SUD in Bingerville, part of the National Institute for Professional Agricultural Training (INFPA)
At each institution, close to 100 participants mainly young women and men took part in presentations and interactive sessions exploring the benefits and practical uses of the online courses. Institutional leaders also expressed strong support for this initiative. The Secretary General of the Polytechnic University of San Pedro (UPSP), Mr. Soumaila Traoré, highlighted the value of these digital tools for strengthening student capacities. The Vice President of Jean Lorougnon Guédé University (UJLoG), Professor Soro Dognimieton, emphasized the importance of modern, digital agricultural training in preparing youth for emerging opportunities in the sector.
Empowering the Next Generation of Agripreneurs
By promoting free, accessible online learning content, MOVE-ComCashew and ABF aim to equip students, teachers, and future agricultural professionals with essential skills to thrive in the cashew, cocoa, maize, and livestock sectors. The successful university tour marks a significant step toward mainstreaming digital agricultural education and deepening partnerships with academic institutions across Côte d'Ivoire.
The e-learning courses are co-funded by the European Union under the Samoa Agreement with the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ/MOVE-ComCashew and GIZ/ABF
