CASHEW SECTOR: IVORY COAST HOSTS SENEGAL DELEGATION FOR A TOUR OF EXCHANGES AND VISITS

Ivory Coast, a reference for the cashew sector in Africa, hosted a distinguished delegation from Senegal composed of members from the Ministries of Agriculture, Industry, and Trade, as well as industry professionals.

With the aim of promoting the cashew sector in Africa, GIZ/MOVE ComCashew supported the Senegalese delegation during their tour focused on the cashew sector.

The purpose of this exchange visit for certain Senegalese stakeholders in the cashew sector, which took place from August 19th to 23rd, was to contribute to the improvement of the performance of Senegalese companies and the agro-industrial ecosystem of the cashew sector by optimizing and modernizing processing methods.

During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to meet and exchange insights with the Cotton and Cashew Council (CCA) and the International Cashew Advisory Council (CICC). These valuable discussions about the structuring of the cashew sector in Ivory Coast provided a deeper understanding of the sector and the mechanisms in place to strengthen the cashew industry in Africa.

To enhance the productivity of the tour, the delegation visited various factories to better understand the cashew processing in Ivory Coast. Indeed, Sodeforce, Food’s Co, Sobery, Cashew Coast, Olam, and the Cashew Technological Innovation Center (CITA) have opened their doors to the Senegalese delegation. These visits have allowed not only the discoveries of different cashew and cashew apple products, an understanding of equipment operations, but also the discovery of technological innovations and social models for producers and workers.

The tour concluded with the Senegalese delegation expressing great satisfaction and departing with a wealth of new knowledge. GIZ/MOVE ComCashew extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Mamadou Berté, DG of CCA; Mr. André Tandjiékpon, Executive Secretary of CICC; Mr. Tahirou Sanogo, DG of Food's Co; Zie Inza Coulibaly, Consultant at SOBERY; Mr. Rajesh Taracad, General Director of Olam Food Ingredients (OFI); Mme. Yao Amenan Marie-Laure, Sales Manager at SODEFORCE; Mr. Soumahoro Bangali, Director of CITA; Mme. Salma Seetaroo, CEO of Cashew Coast; and all the persons and organizations who contributed to enriching this tour.
