As part of the implementation of phase 2 of the RSA-CICC project, contract n°81318784, the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC) is considering the implementation of   the activities of its Regional Statistical Pool dedicated to the cashew sector. This initiative aims to harmonize, produce and disseminate reliable statistical data at the regional level.

To this end, the CICC plans to set up an integrated web platform, covering the entire data life cycle, including: collection, validation, analysis and dissemination.

From 1–4 February 2026, sixteen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries – ten in cocoa and six in cashew – participated in the International Sweets and Snacks Fair (ISM) in Cologne. Their objective went beyond visibility: they aim to establish long-term, resilient trade partnerships with European buyers.

The participation was facilitated by the Business Support Facility for Resilient Agricultural Value Chains, in cooperation with sequa gGmbH through the Import Promotion Desk (IPD).

The 2026 World Cashew Conference (WCC), organised by Eventell Global Advisory from January 30 to February 1, 2026, convened over 600 actors from across the global cashew value chain. Under the theme “Navigating the New Normal in Global Cashew Trade Flow,” the conference brought together producers, processors, exporters, buyers, major logistics and shipping companies, government representatives, and development partners from over 40 countries, providing a platform for collaboration, innovation, and meaningful partnerships that continue to shape the future of the cashew industry.

Africa produces more than half of the world’s raw cashew nuts (RCN). Yet, in 2024, only 17% of this production was processed locally. This means missed opportunities to increase income, create jobs, and strengthen rural economies. Despite the sector’s potential to drive rural development, entrepreneurs and cooperatives in cashew-growing regions struggle with limited processing infrastructure, inadequate support and advisory services, as well as insufficient access to finance or networks to reach larger markets.
