About us
MOVE-ComCashew formerly known as the Competitive Cashew Initiative in 2009(ComCashew) and now tagged as (MOVE-ComCashew) is a multi-actor and multi-level approach, that builds capacities of actors in the cashew value chain with the aim to significantly improve the livelihoods of small-scale cashew farmers and increasing the competitiveness of domestic rice and cashew supply to meet increasing regional demand.
Together with the GIZ project ABF, MOVE-ComCashew is implementing the Joint Action “Business Support Facility for Resilient Agricultural Value Chains” which is a combined effort of the EU Directorate-General for International Partnerships (INTPA), Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and German Government through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Under this Joint Action, MOVE aims to contribute to economic and climate change resilience of the cashew value chain and food security, increased income, and employment in the 79 OACPS member states under the Samoa agreement. We, as MOVE-ComCashew, are mandated to cover activities on the cashew value chain.
We create income and employment in our implementing countries with a focus on increasing the value creation of cashew processing, improving the economic/environmental sustainability of the cashew agricultural systems, we improve the marketing of cashew regional products, we disseminate good practices in promoting cashew, we conduct inclusive business models and develop human capacity targeting gender inclusion and we strengthen public-private cooperation in policymaking.

Our objective
The objective of ComCashew focuses on three key areas:
Where we work
In Africa, over 2.5 million African farmers grow about 57% of the world's cashews.
Here are updates on six MOVE-ComCashew African countries: Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Senegal.

Our vision
After having built a basis for the cashew sector in some African project countries through trainings for farmers and processors and through activities linking them to national and international markets, ComCashew aims now to consolidate these efforts and extend activities to the ECOWAS countries and the Caribbean and Pacific states. Agribusiness Facility (ABF) and MOVE-ComCashew, both GIZ programmes commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-funded by the EU under the post-Cotonou agreement with the Organization of ACP States have come together on the joint action, ‘ Business Support Facility for Resilient Agricultural Value Chains.
This Joint Action aims to develop and enhance the capacities of actors along ACP agricultural value chains to attract finance and investment, towards low-emission and climate resilient practices and value chains. It is putting more emphasis on establishing a sustainable relationship between the chain actors, on transferring knowledge and building sustainable institutions, providing trainings, business advice and services.
